Tomas Pivoda (born 21. 9. 1991)
This young Czech budding and talented racing pilot started his professional career in 1999, when he was gaining his first karting experience in the TOM-AND-RACE team and in its colors he participated in the Championship of the Czech Republic in the COMER 80ZT category. In the very next year, at the Písek circuit, he was standing on the podium in the same category for the first time in his life.
In 2001 Tomáš was racing in two competitions - the Championship of the Czech Republic in the KADET MORINI 40 category and the International Championship in the COMER RS category.
Before the start of the 2002 season Tom passed a relatively complicated procedure of technical oldening, thanks to which he could race in the NJ-100 category (for drivers from 13 to 15 years of age according to the FIA conditions) at his age of ten. Tom has not been beaten in the competition of older drivers, in both the PEUGEOT CUP and the International Championship of Slovakia he has taken excellent 3rd places.
In 2003, Tomáš won a title of the international vice-champion of Slovakia and in the FIA Central European Zone he took the fifth place. The following season Tomáš already raced in the ICA J category. Besides home series of the Championship of the Czech Republic and the Championship of Slovakia, in which he took the great 3rd places again, Tomáš participated also in the 34th Torneo Industrie Parma in Italy and 3rd Annual Trophée Julie Tonelli Brignoles in France.
The 2005 season was one of the most intensive. It started in late January and finished just few days before Christmas. Tomáš raced in almost 24 races in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy, France and Spain. He was also racing in the prestigious Italian Open Masters series for the first time. Then, the greatest achievement was the 2nd place in the Championship of the Slovak Republic.
The year of 2006 was crucial. Tomáš became a factory driver of the Italian Maranello team and has been racing almost solely in big Italian series. He participated in the whole Open Masters series as well as the World Series Karting. He was more successful in the WSK, in which he took the 2nd place in Lonato (It) and the 3rd place in Mariembourg (B).
In the season of 2007 our Czech driver continued racing for the Maranello team in the KF2 category, which replaced the original ICA J category. Besides participation in the biggest series of WSK and Open Masters, he was also racing in the European Championship, KF2 World Cup and CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific KF2 in Suzuka, Japan. Tom achieved an outstanding success in the Open Masters series, when he received points for the great 2nd place at the Jesolo circuit (It). His excellent results resulted in winning several prestigious awards. Tomáš became the 2007 Best kart driver of the Czech Republic, successful Czech national team member, and he was awarded with Golden Steering-wheel Award and Jiří Balcar Award. At the end of the season he accepted several invitations and tested Formula driving for the first time in his life. It was Formula S 2000 Master with the Italian ADM Motorsport team and Formula Renault 2000 with the TJ Eme team.
Another fundamental step in his career Tomáš made in 2008. After several season-opening races for the Maranello team, Tomáš switched over to the ADM Motorsport team as a third racing driver of Italian Formula Masters. In May he definitively decided to finish racing in karting and he started paying his interest fully only to the formula races. He participated in the Italian Formula Masters series as well as in several races of the International Formula Masters. In the total ranking of the Italian Formula Masters Tomáš finished on the sixth place, he was standing twice on the podium and he was only one point short to be in the prestigious first five. At the end of the season Tomáš was on tests in the Jenzer Motorsport team.
The 2009 season was affected by the economical crisis outbreak. Some teams, including ADM Motorsport, started ignoring joint tests and complete organization of the Formula Masters platform has been disturbed. Tomáš attended several tests irregularly and as he failed to make an agreement on permanent contract, his active career has been suspended.
Everything has changed in early 2010, when an offer from the Mičánek Motorsport team arrived. After more than one-year racing break and minimum amount of trainings with Porsche 911 GT3, Tomáš finished on the second place in the endurance three-hour-lasting race of the International Championship of the Czech Republic and of the Central Europe Zone in Most, Czech Republic. Cooperation with this team continued also in the 2011 season, when the Pivoda/Mičánek crew won the 1st place in the Porsche Sports Cup Endurance in his class. At the end of the season Tomáš was invited to attend the last race of the Porsche Carrera Cup series. His performance wasn't bad at all. Tomáš draw team owner's attention to himself substantially and asked by his performance for a contract for the next season.
This year he signed a contract with the Konrad Motorsport team and Tomáš has been starting in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland series.
